Royal Theatre

The five story (from orchestra pit to domed ceiling) Royal Theatre (previously called The Savoy Theatre) is forward of the ship and decorated in an art deco style with stage curtains elaborately decorated with a row of dancers. The theatre is also furnished with its own bar providing refreshments, with waiters walking round offering bar service to guests.

Seating 1362 guests with usually two productions per night to accommodate guests on main and second seating in the main dining rooms, shows range from dancing, tribute acts and acrobatics to West End style musical productions. Examples of show currently running include “Ballet on Shoulders” (an acrobatic act), “Gallery of Dreams” and “A Salute to the Temptations”.

Late night adult comedy acts and audience participation game shows like the Love and Marriage Game show are also held in the theatre along with 3D DreamWorks animation films.

The Lotus Lounge is decorated in an Oriental style with two lion dog statues guarding the entrance. It is the ship's second show lounge with a range of activities on offer from live music, dancing and art auctions to open play Nintendo Wii, DreamWorks “Meet and Greet” offering photo opportunities with favourite characters, adult karaoke and game shows such as Battle of the Sexes and 60 seconds or less.

Located forward of deck 5, the venue seats 308 and includes its own stage, dance floor and bar (portside) and despite its size provides an intimate atmosphere for guests.

Dragon’s Lair Nightclub is located on deck 3 and is served by its own bar. Conceived as a 600-year old dungeon with an eclectic décor of gothic style features and furnishings including gargoyles, two dragons guarding the entrance, stained glass windows and ornate arches, the venue has a bar, dance floor and seating area.

Previously a two level nightclub, the upper level was replaced by The Golden Room when the ship relocated to sailing out of South East Asia.

Prior to turning into the ships nightclub at around 11pm each night until late with resident DJ turning out the tunes, events such as ballroom dancing hour, learn the Michael Jackson “Thriller Dance” and romantic dance music hour take place.

Extended for the ships' move to the Asian market, the Casino now covers around 9,600 sq. ft with more than 30 table games, around 300 slot machines and additional private room for guests placing large stakes on games.

Decorated in a mix of styles from statues of a Cowboy and girl to a Strongman and Belly dancer and a glass walkway inlaid with everything from model pigs and apples to jewels, gaming chips, dice and a roulette wheel the recently renovated venue seats up to 418 guests. Access to the casino is via a sweeping staircase leading down from the Royal Promenade on the deck above, or by the Schooner Bar midship of deck 4.

Served by its own bar, Texas Hold ‘em poker tournament are also held (charges apply to enter) along with complimentary gaming sessions to teach new comers how to play the games available.

The Golden Room, located across from the Schooner Bar on deck 4 (previously the upstairs to the Dragon's Lair Nightclub), is an elite invitation-only lounge reserved for VIP Casino Royale guests offering them access to high-stakes gaming in comfort, style and privacy.

The Screening Room lies outside the Royal Theatre on deck 2, and is the ship's 60 seat cinema airing a selection of movies for guests' entertainment.

Located within the Viking Crown Lounge on deck 14 is the ships 30 seat Seven Hearts card room for guests to enjoy a quite game of cards or take part in a bridge tournament.

All portraits taken by the ships onboard photographers are displayed on deck 3, starboard side of the Centrum in the Photo Gallery for guests to view and purchase. The area features an interactive photo kiosk which utilises advanced facial recognition technology to quickly display guests photos.

Also available in the Photo Gallery are duty free cameras, photographic equipment and photo developing services along with portrait photo packages.

Tucked just outside the pool bar on deck 11 is the Sea Trek Dive shop selling a small selection of diving equipment along with goggles. Guests can also sign up to take part in basic scuba diving qualifications where they can gain PADI qualifications.

The Coach store, located along the Royal Promenade on deck 5 by Ben & Jerry’s, sells luxury leather goods (since its adjustments to make the ship more geared towards the Asian Market after its relocation to cruises sailing out of Singapore and Shanghai).

Mariner of the Seas is IWC Schaffhausen’s very first stand alone boutique at sea. Located along the Royal Promenade on deck 5 it is the largest luxury fashion watch store at sea.

The design concept of the new, approximately 60-square-metre boutique, offers all six IWC watch families.

The Royal Promenade on deck 5, is designed to emulate an upscale European street scene, lined with shops, bars and 24-hour cafe (a great venue to snack and people watch).

Featuring atmospheric lighting which changes colour throughout the day and night, quirky art features and sculptures, the area is also a hive of activity from appearances by the DreamWorks characters during the exciting DreamWorks parade, live music and entertainment including a 70’s Dancing in the Street disco party .

A variety of high end boutiques are located opposite Boleros on deck 4 and all along the Royal Promenade on deck 5. These include Michael Kors, Coach, IWC, Perfume and Cosmetics (selling ten of the best know brands of perfumes and cosmetics), a Logo and Destination store and General store (selling sundries guest may have forgotten to pack).

Due to the ships relocation to Asian waters, Royal Caribbean removed a number of bars (including Vintages and the Champagne Bar) to make way for the addition of numerous high end boutiques.

Adults can learn anything from scrapbook making to jewellery making, Origami classes, Salsa dancing and poker skills in the Explorer Academy workshops held on board Mariner of the seas, usually on deck 4 in the Schooner Bar or in Ellington’s Jazz Lounge on deck 14.

An interesting feature to be found on deck 11 is Peek-a-Boo Bridge with windows which look down onto the ships Navigation Bridge allowing guests to view some of the systems used to keep the ship on course.

The new outdoor movie screen on deck 11 above the outdoor pools, installed during Mariner’s refurbishment in 2012, airs first-run movies, big time sporting events and music concerts throughout the day and evening.

Studio B on deck 3, aft, seats 904 guests and is a multi-purpose studio complex filled with activity throughout the day from ice-skating to ballroom dance lessons.

At night guests can enjoy the ice show, “Ice Under The Big Top”, with complimentary tickets required to secure a seat, available from outside the Lotus Lounge. (Any guests without tickets may attend the shows if spare seats are available on a first come first serve basis).
