Overview Of The Port Of Fiskardo

About Fiskardo
Fiskardo is a small village on the Ionian island of Kefalonia, Greece in the eastern Mediterranean. It is located in the northernmost part of the island.

The film Captain Corelli's Mandolin was filmed in Kefalonia.

Fiscardo is unique in that it was left virtually undamaged during the great earthquake of 1953, which ruined most of the historic buildings on Kefalonia.

Established in 2012, the Fiscardo Museum houses a collection of implements, artefacts and old photographs which gives visitors a glimpse of life in Fiskardo in times past.

Hire a boat and explore neighbouring Ithaca or the countless bays and coves not accessible by car, or take a cruise on a traditional wooden caique.

Walkers and nature lovers can follow interesting trails, Fiscardo is surrounded by hills, valleys and a rich Mediterranean countryside.

Fiscardo has daily car and passenger ferries running during the summer between Fiscardo, Lefkas, and Ithaca. Times and frequency of trips vary so double check times, especially for the return journey back!

Fiscardo has it's own beach just a couple of minutes walk from the harbour, however it is small so better options may be Foki or Emblisi, both around 20 minutes walk away, the latter up and down a hill. Kimilia, located between Dafnoudi and Emblissi, is a small bay which is very quiet and popular for diving and scuba diving, it can be reached on foot from Emblissi by walking for around 15 minutes through hilly woodland.

Fiskardo has several souvenir shops near the harbour, as well as two bakeries and supermarkets for daily essentials. Ceramics, clothing and Kefalonian wine are good buys.

There are many restaurants around the harbour and within the village to choose from. Both local and international dishes as well as vegetarian options can be found. Try tasty fresh fish and seafood, Greek salads or a traditional moussaka.

There are no fast food outlets in Fiscardo, however bakeries sell tasty cheese and spinach pies etc.

In larger towns and cities you can find the traditional "souvlaki" vendors selling kebabs and pita bread filled with meat or chicken.
